With great pride and joy I am re-joining my talented and accomplished twin sister Jennifer in our Interior Design business formerly called Maudlin now called VAN GALDER DESIGN! Vintage shopping and a love of antiques were expanding Kristine’s esthetic arsenal alongside her growing vendor community of pickers, crafts people, fabricators, finishers and upholsters. Kristine started moonlighting with a workroom to grow their designer wholesale business and feed her passion for all things furnishings.The years of hands on experience and product knowledge prompted Kristine to open the retail design store “Maudlin “foolishly sentimental furnishings” in 1992 with the help of her mother and Jennifer as financial and design support. Using her last term’s tuition for UCLA’s School of Architecture and Design, Kristine thought it was time to get her design career started. Opening the first location to wild success in Corona del Mar quickly led to a second store in La Jolla and Jennifer’s fulltime design career. However, Kristine was recruited by QVC’s NYC station Q2 to source / buy product and even host the segments for their high-end lifestyle shows. In fact Kristine’s first design director was Diane Von Furstenberg!While the world of fashion and product development have consumed Kristine’s recent portfolio architecture and interior design remain her passion. Today Kristine re-claims her love of imagining amazing spaces and places for her clients. The pleasure and promise of collaborating with Jennifer again is overdue. Kristine and her wonderful husband are raising 2 daughters in their Historic West Adams fixer upper – a former Dairy farm in the middle of Los Angeles!
