I am an actively practicing, board-certified psychiatrist executive and leader, with an expertise in treating individuals who identify as female, public psychiatry & building data- and mission-driven strategic programs to address gaps in access to and the cost of high-quality healthcare.I am passionate about empowering folks to take control of their mental health; eliminating the stigma associated with mental illness; improving access to high-quality psychiatric care; championing and promoting females and females of color to positions of leadership in healthcare; advocacy re: closing the gender pay gap in physicians; and building team cultures that are inclusive, cohesive and high-performing. My philosophy as a leader is to encourage clinicians and staff to care for each other, so that we are able to provide the best care for our patients. In my private practice, I specialize in treating women, particularly women with Bipolar I Disorder, PMDD and women who are pregnant or postpartum. Additionally, I have been featured in the Huffington Post, SELF Magazine, Women’s Health Magazine, Yahoo news, Reader’s Digest, Mental, Blogilates, and more.Based on my personal experiences as a female, mixed-race physician in the C suite and other positions of leadership, I have a unique perspective on the path to leadership. During my career, I have led large teams of mental health clinicians in variety of settings including a large inpatient psychiatry service at a NYC public hospital affiliated with NYU Grossman School of Medicine; on the payor side at Elevance Health, formerly Anthem, as the Regional Behavioral Health Officer at CareMore Health; and as the Chief Medical Officer of a digital healthcare startup at Minded. I am proud to have supervised teams of outstanding Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) in all of my previous positions of leadership and take pride in sharing my knowledge of the ins and outs and the art of nurse practitioner collaboration and supervision. Some of my other professional interests include thought leadership in women's mental health, public psychiatry, integrated care, and the collaborative care model; the role that empathy, reflection, team-building, shared decision making, finding meaning and joy in the workplace plays in retention of staff; and leading reflection groups for healthcare providers (in all specialties of medicine) to combat the growing epidemic of moral injury in medicine.
