Vice President Development & Communications
• Oversaw all aspects of strategic communications (marketing, public relations, external relations and brand management) and resource development (foundations, corporate, individuals, government and business development) for the organization, supervising five staff and hundreds of volunteers during my tenure. • Led efforts to secure an $8.5 million dollar grant in partnership with Portland Public Schools from the U.S. Department of Education and a $375,000 investment from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (their largest domestic investment in 2008). • Conceptualized and launched a brand awareness campaign to tell the 21st Century Camp Fire story spanning web, print, billboard, TV and social media with more than $250,ooo in gift in kind (GIK) leveraged resources; coordinated with more than 100 staff on the campaign execution and story-telling strategies. • Raised nearly $1 million annually to support Camp Fire programs and operations with steady increases over goals each year; and led a Capital Campaign initiative raising nearly $2 million from individuals, corporations, and foundations to support a historic restoration. • Played a core role in the needs assessment, communications efforts and subsequent relationship building during the acquisition of another non profit which included a nearly $5 million addition in assets to the balance sheet and six additional counties of service footprint.

• Significantly increased the awareness of Human Solutions through relationship building, community involvement and public relations initiatives; led to the organization receiving the Spirit of Portland Award and Lowenstein Trust Award in 2007. • Designed and implemented a comprehensive marketing strategy to increase awareness and attain new donors including new collateral materials, website overhaul, e-newsletter development and online giving capability. • Expanded Development Department from one staff to four during my tenure to diversify funding opportunities, increase communication-focused initiatives and expand organizational capacity. • Responsible for nearly $500,000 in fundraising during each fiscal year; Major Donor cultivation efforts led to largest individual gift received in organization history.
