I discovered politics at 8 years old when my neighbor ran for office. I loved the pomp and circumstance. Then as I got older and began to learn what an elected official actually did, I discovered a passion for the idea of developing policies that benefit of the public. My neighbor spearheaded the policy decision to reconstruct a city drawbridge to one that didn’t require stopping traffic 4 times a day. The debates were so cool. I was hooked. Now I have been a government relations executive for over 25 years with experience that includes federal, state, and local lobbying, public policy development, regulatory issue resolution, crisis management and initiative campaigns. I particularly enjoy finding a solution to a client’s problem in the detail that requires deep dive research – the type that most people won’t bother with, but where the unique solutions lie.I love to manage the political, policy and public aspects of all types of issues, and modestly say I have earned the reputation as an effective negotiator – a skill imperative to navigating political and public affairs issues. I assist clients in managing the aspects of corporate and non-profit operations that intersect the legislative and legal arenas, especially when crises threaten business function, through the research of complex and critical laws and regulations, and by proposing strategic government relations solutions.Some of my skills include legislative advocacy particularly statue/ordinance changes, First Amendment law as it relates to free speech and zoning regulation, state regulation of charitable solicitation, policy strategic planning, PR crisis management, and corporate regulatory and legal issue resolutions.
