Responsible for managing and coordinating the film digitization project’s digital materials and integrating legacy databases into Airtable database. Duties include organizing new assets as they are created; developing a system for automated duplication and backup; and shepherding those assets through the project’s workflow, including metadata editing and correction, physical asset and file tracking, quality control, transcoding to derivative formats, migration to permanent offline data storage, and publishing completed archival files to Internet Archive’s public collections.

Worked collaboratively with Director of Archives and Records Management to identify projects and priorities and start to get a handle of this relatively new archive, pulled together for the symphony's centennial. Managed all audiovisual media and digital documents. Success highlights include: collaboratively creating plans with various departments for files to come to archives, several completed digitization projects, successful advocacy and support for preservation digitization of the 12,000 live concert recordings on physical media, migration of 2500 archives files from previous CMS to new DAMS, and set-up and implementation of workflows for the new Digital Asset Management System. I enjoyed answering hundreds of reference questions and requests for information or documents from people both internal and external to the organization, and I learned a lot about the SFS and orchestral music in the process.

California Audiovisual Preservation Project (CAVPP) now known as California Revealed is a really fascinating grant-funded project to help libraries and archives around the state digitize materials related to California history. I worked with over 150 partner libraries and coordinated delivery of batches of archival materials. This was primarily audio, video, and film materials before the project expanded its scope. I processed items and added description and identifiers before shipping the archival materials to the vendor for transfer. When the files came back I performed quality control checks on the files and coordinated rescans and replacement files from the vendor if necessary. I uploaded digitized access files and metadata to the Internet Archive and wrote all files to LTO tape for long-term preservation.All of this also involved iteratively developing and updating procedures, and documenting current processes. We also had regular interns that I helped to train in all aspects of the workflow.A wonderful part of this project (in addition to preserving deteriorating media) is that all digital files were uploaded to the Internet Archive. It was fulfilling to make thousands of items available to anyone anywhere!

Digitized various analog video formats according to video preservation best practices, and performed quality controlled transferred files, identified video artifacts, and entered metadata. It was so fun to get to see some of the archival materials that we transferred and I learned so much.

Maintained several law libraries for law firm clients. I filed regular update to law publications, maintained records and inventories, and placed orders.

Inspected home movie films from the Prelinger collection to prepare for digitization and upload to the Internet Archive. I learned a lot about film handling, inspection and splicing. I also developed a fondness for some of the handwritten notes people included with their home movies.
