Clients include: Boston Water and Sewer Commission--developing curriculum on stormwater management and green infrastructure to accompany the installation of green infrastructure at selected Boston Public Schools.Boston Public Schools -- leading elementary science teacher leaders in developing outdoor lessons that address the new STE standards.Children's Investment Fund -- developing guidelines and materials to enable educators in early education and out-of-school time programs across Massachusetts to maximize their use of outdoor learning in meeting day to day objectives for learning and play.The Gifford School -- engaging elementary, middle and high school teachers in exploring the potential benefits of using outdoor teaching to meet students' educational and therapeutic needs.

Directed pioneering education program incorporating outdoor learning into curriculum and instruction at the district level. Created and implemented Science in the Schoolyard™ (SSY) -- a professional development program found in a 2013 study to have benefits for student learning and teaching practices. Published SSY Guides to BPS FOSS (Full Option Science System) modules including print, video and on-line resources, later disseminated nationally. Developed robust teacher leadership program providing in-house professional development on taking science outdoors. Created Outdoor Writers Workshop, providing classroom practice guidelines and exemplary outdoor lessons that build language proficiency, and help students write (and read) authentic narrative, opinion and informative/explanatory texts. Spearheaded multi-year collaboration with landscape architects to develop an innovative outdoor classroom model designed to meet teachers needs in an urban school system.

Conducted formative evaluation of Insights in Biology an NSF-funded standards-based high school biology curriculum. Increased pilot teacher engagement in development phase. Evaluation team member for 5 year NSF-funded teacher leadership initiative for teachers of environmental science. Interviewed teachers nationally and wrote case studies for A Guide to Standards-Based Middle School Curricula.

Selected projects: Head Start -- developed literacy curriculum based on stories and games from teachers' diverse backgrounds and cultures that enabled them to use their own experiences as a resource in their teaching.Boston Children’s Museum -- provided consultation to staff on active listening, establishing trust, and creating a culturally sensitive environment in order to collect oral histories and maximize community engagement in exhibits and related programing.Harvard Medical School -- presented professional development to medical staff on eliciting and recognizing the value inherent in oral stories as part of an effort to improve communications with patients. Ministry of Skills Development, Ontario, Canada -- provided professional development to staff of adult literacy programs on how to use oral story telling to generate print materials and help their students build language proficiency.

Initiated and developed community and school-based programs in Greater Boston including, Griots of Roxbury, which engaged at-risk youth in collecting oral histories to document, analyze and reflect on the history and impact of youth violence in their community. The project culminated in an installation of original artwork, oral narrative at the Dillaway Thomas National Heritage House in Roxbury, MA. Provided professional development to literacy programs in Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Somerville and Lawrence Public Schools on using students' oral stories to generate culturally relevant texts.Administered growing educational and cultural non-profit, initiated strategic planning process and doubled budget and staff in 3 year period.
