About Kristin Metz

Kristin has over 20 years experience in elementary and early childhood education. She led Boston Public Schools (BPS) to a position of national leadership in taking teaching outdoors; produced curriculum support materials for BPS, distributed nationally by the Full Option Science Program (FOSS®); inspired a national science curriculum to fully integrate outdoor lessons (Taking FOSS Outdoors 2013 edition.) As Director of Education she received a Lifetime Achievement Award in December 2013 from the Boston Schoolyard Initiative (BSI) for her impact on teaching and learning in Boston and beyond. Through her work with BSI, the Center for Science Education at EDC, Inc., and consulting clients ranging from Head Start to the Ontario Ministry of Skills Development, she has been inspired by and inspired teachers across the U.S. and Canada.
