In my early teens, I was the girl who didn't say much. I took it upon myself to change that. Within four years of that decision I had gone from the quiet girl with her nose in a book to head cheerleader...who still had her nose in a book because books are great.The confidence that grew in myself through many forms of public speaking & the positive affirmation from teachers & coaches lead me to Black Hills State University, in Spearfish, SD, for my physical science & science teaching degree.During my years at BHSU I was a member of the NCAA DII women's track & field team, where I was named All-Conference. I did 3 years of physics research with the physics faculty at BHSU. I was the student chair of the local organizing committee for the 2016 American Physical Society's Black Hills Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics. I worked in our Instructional Design dept as a Student Tech Fellow where I designed interactive lessons profs could use in class or online. I was a Physics 111 TA & tutor. I put in over 220 hours of observation at two different high schools & a middle school before I began my 16-week student teaching internship.In between school, observing, working, tutoring, & running I managed to find time to hike, rock climb, read, & teach almost the entire track & cross country teams to swing dance.I have been told that I relate well to my peers & students, that I have an infections high energy, am intelligent, & capable of whatever task I am assigned. I have been told by my education professors that I will be "one of the good ones" in regards to being a teacher. I constantly work to not let them down.I thrive in a lively constructivist classroom of barely organized chaos where I can relate my content to real life no matter if I have 13 yr old or 18 yr old students, all the while infusing humor, a sense of responsibility for learning, & praise when praise is due into my classroom.
