About Kristin Saplala
More than a decade of international experience working as a Paralegal, Office Administrator, Web Designer; MBA TA; health/fitness model-- defined my past before further pursuing my true passion: Healthcare and Psych/Counselling Career. In the hopes of being my family's only first-generation American college grad, I set my sights on traveling from the "Pearl of the Orient" -- Manila, Philippines -- to the golden state of California by myself, on a full scholarship ride, balancing 2-3 jobs. Living the lonely migrant life is something I understood from early on as an expat American, who grew up overseas and going to 4 different high schools in 2 different continents due to financial and political instability brought on by the tragedy of 9/11. This gave me a unique, multicultural perspective on what it's like to have your back against the ropes and to empathize with and inspire those who struggle to achieve the American Dream. I am blessed however to meet great mentors along the way. I have had the golden opportunity to keep learning, be in work I like and find meaningful:🔸Research & Development 🔸Behavioral Counseling & Youth DevelopmentGraduating WITH HONORS/DEAN'S LIST from a prestigious and conscientious UC is a lifelong dream come true. UC Merced was so generous and timely in bestowing me support through the UC Blue & Gold Scholarship Award and the Frances M. Benton Award for Excellence. As a Working Student, I multitasked as:1. Communications & Research Assistant at the UC Merced Small Business Development Center (SBDC):🔸 Editor of Central CA's weekly and monthly newsletters and social media marketing. 🔸Client Intake Consultant2. Hybrid Tutor for Reedley College in Political Science, History, Trigonometry, Biology, English, ESL, Art, etcAt Valley Children's Hospital shortly after, I was commended for my innovative thinking, implementation and organizational skills, and my adaptability where I was hired to temp as:1. Administrative Assistant at the GME Office and Physician Practice Services (SMG Group)2. Research Coordinator for Locums and veteran physicians at the PPS.Months later, promoted to permanent roles:3. Program Coordinator for the GME Residency4. Currently, Medical Education Coordinator for:🔸 Visiting Residents: Surgeons, Ortho, Anesthesiologists, and for Subspecialty Clinics for Valley Consortium for Medical Education (VCME Pelandale, Modesto) for Family Medicine.🔸Third-Year Med Students for California Health Sciences University (CHSU), California NorthState University (CNU) and UCSF Fresno SJV Prime+ scholars.
