Kristin Scharkey is a Senior Content Strategist at MediaNews Group/Tribune Publishing. Kristin was also responsible for leading coverage of national trending topics for USA Today, including the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals, Palm Springs International Film Festival, Desert X and more. An advocate for nontraditional storytelling, Kristin oversaw efforts to engage hard-to-reach populations through survey and solutions journalism. While editor-in-chief of DESERT magazine, Kristin emerged as a leading expert on life in the California desert, consistently producing award-winning culture and travel coverage, and bringing to fruition an editorial vision that reflected the diversity of the region. She directed and executed all aspects of production for this monthly magazine and launched an annual events series, weekly email newsletter and subscription service to meet growing reader demand.Kristin was also the co-founder of Be The Momentum, a women-owned company designed to empower young female athletes; she traveled the country to host clinics and developed proprietary digital and in-person training curriculum for both players and coaches.
