My work involves one-on-one interaction with the patient, healthcare provider or pharmacy staff. The daily workflow includes imputing prescriptions, filling the prescription and counseling the patients on new medications. I was responsible for reminder calls, refill requests, adherence calls as well as ordering. In addition, I was also introduced to insurance policies, immunizations, and more in depth understanding of the intricacies of the community pharmacy profession.

Dr. Alice Ceacareanu's lab focuses on elucidating cancer-preventative pharmacodynamics of insulin sensitizers--pharmacotherapies such as metformin, statins and omega-3 fatty acids. As a student researcher, I was involved in various processes across many ongoing projects; literature searches, manuscript writing, as well as retrospective data collection. I was also given independent projects that would give me a variety of experiences in the clinical research field.
