As Deputy Managing Director for Federal Programs, I helped lead and manage an annual $2M+ competitive HUD grant program. I also delivered legal and technical training and assistance to build the capacity of County officials and homeless housing and support service providers in their efforts to develop and implement coordinated homeless response systems. This work included conducting gaps-analyses to identify housing and service needs, and designing/delivering trainings and curriculum relating to HUD guidance and regulations.

Led and coordinated the annual HUD NOFA CoC Program Competition in Santa Clara, San Francisco, and Marin ensuring all three communities and 120 government/nonprofit providers retain or increase millions of federal dollars in support of homeless housing and support services. Develop, facilitate, implement, and evaluate community-wide plans to end homelessness in Santa Clara, San Francisco, and Napa counties. Provided training and technical assistance to the Counties of – and homeless housing and service providers in – Santa Clara, San Francisco, Marin, Napa, and San Luis Obispo related to evidence based practices, program and system level performance, CoC grant management practices and compliance related issues, gaps analysis and needs assessments.

Researched, reported on and advocated for diverse issues relating to human rights for people inside California women’s prisons (healthcare access, parental rights, sentencing mitigation, placement in community-based programs) – specifically focused on documenting the destruction of reproductive capacity and providing legal support to transgender and nonconforming identity individuals. Conducted intake interviews to determine adequate access to legal services and ensured proper referral or follow up.
