As Director, Kris provided leadership for several student development areas including co-curricular programs and activities, student leadership, student clubs, civic engagement, and intercollegiate athletics. He was responsible for developing and implementing strategies to foster cross-cultural understanding through a variety of mechanisms, such as student training programs, leadership development, social, cultural, recreational, and educational programming. He ensured that the student life programs operate in accordance with the mission, strategic goals, and regulatory requirements of the College. While at Whatcom Community College, he promoted meaningful student and faculty engagement while building a welcoming and inclusive campus community for all students. Under his tenure, student government developed a $12 million dollar recreation center, a department of Residence Life and a student ambassador program.

-Develop and implement strategies to attract high achieving and underrepresented students to Washington State University.-Advise students in a wide variety of academic programs, including high school and community college students.-Create professional relationships with high school counselors, administrators, and teachers to help students choose Washington State University.-Mentor newly hired professionals in presentation style, ideas for recruitment, and daily schedule. Provide general support regarding admissions questions.-Coordinated many large and small recruitment events focusing on high ability students and students of color.-Out of State recruitment experience designing recruitment strategies to attract students from Alaska, Oregon, and California.-Coordinated recruitment efforts using different entities within the university to increase applicant pool and yield of applicant pool.
