Whilst working with DJ Civils, I have worked for companies such as Babcock Rail, Story Contracting, QTS and BAM Ritchie doing a variety of different PWAY jobs ranging from full track renewal activities such as controlling formation excavations, bottom ballast installation, tamping, stressing to Hand Back engineering duties.

During my time with Story Contracting I have been involved in various different schemes ranging from installing foundations for overhead line equipment at Carfin Cutting, replacing a number of longitudinal timber over various structures at different sites for both Story Contacting as a principal contractor and Taziker as a sub-contractor to completing various track off track on schemes to allow for bridge repairs including tamping and stressing of sites. I have also been involved in projects… Show more During my time with Story Contracting I have been involved in various different schemes ranging from installing foundations for overhead line equipment at Carfin Cutting, replacing a number of longitudinal timber over various structures at different sites for both Story Contacting as a principal contractor and Taziker as a sub-contractor to completing various track off track on schemes to allow for bridge repairs including tamping and stressing of sites. I have also been involved in projects working as a sub-contractor for SPT to carry out S&C renewals at their depot in Glasgow. Whilst working for Story there was a period of time where I was the only qualified stressor so once other individuals had been put through the course I would also act as mentor to ensure that individuals where competent to carry out stressing duties. Office based activates consist of making sure a suitable methodology is in place for schemes as well as creating, work package plans, task briefing sheets, stressing plans, Track monitoring plans, CRT Management plans, geometry files for tamping schemes and timings for the jobs. We would then assign resources to the prep, core and follow up works to assist with job costing to help drive KPI's for target costing. This included plant, manpower, tools and materials. Office based activates consisted of taking a job from the development team and ensuring it was buildable and then we would refine the methodology and create staging plans and timings for the job. We would then assign resources to the prep, core and follow up works to assist with job costing to help drive KPI's for target costing. This included plant, manpower, tools and engineering trains. I also created, track geometry files, task briefing sheets, work package plans, stressing plans and safe system of work packs. As well as this I would help correlate the health and safety files and TOC hand back packs post works.On site I provided engineering assistance with activities like, as built surveys, design surveys, excavations, installation of ballast, tamping & stressing. As an engineer I drove the task's ensuring we did not compromise on safety or quality but maintained high productivity.I also assisted further in the development of apprentices and industry new starters within the company, namely graduate engineers as I mentored them in carrying out a variety of tasks and helped them gain an understanding of track renewals engineering.
