Urbanist, innovation generalist, transportation geek, filmmaker, and pretty nice guy. Currently leading the MassDOT Office of Possibility. Previously led the City of Boston's R&D team (The Mayor's Office of New Urban Mechanics) that focused broadly on prototyping and experimentation across all the different domains of City government. Over the years, I stood up the City's autonomous vehicle testing program, worked on the development of Boston's Innovation District, crafted and implemented the nation's first truck side guard law, supported projects on work on housing, substance abuse, economic development, created a digital storytelling outfit for the City, and help build the brand for the City of Boston as a world leader in civic innovation. In the mobility space - past projects include the management of the City's bike-share system (Hubway, now BlueBikes), overhauling parking technology infrastructure, performance parking policy, the public space invitational, creating the Boston's Safest Driver competition, new mobility policy development, curbside management strategy, experiments with transportation data, and crafting policy recommendations to improve the lives of Bostonians, including the strategy for Boston's Complete Streets implementation and vision zero efforts.
