I mostly maintain and add features to the web applications that drive RSE's public websites and internal processes. I spend much of my time working closely with the rest of the dev team and members of other departments to design and develop functional, intuitive, and easy-to-use solutions that best serve the needs of our customers and coworkers.

Develop, Test and Deploy custom web components for the front end of the Lumavate Platform using JavaScript, TypeScript and Python languages, and including the following libraries and frameworks: Selenium, PyTest, StencilJS, Jinja2. Some other technologies that I've used at this job are Jira, Slack, GitHub, Docker, and the command line.

I continue to work with a client on the website for their university lab. I collaborated with the client on styles, structure, and priorities of the project, showcasing my ideas, receiving feedback, and advising the client on their ideas for the web app. I have implemented the entire site, and we continue collaborating and communicating as I have progressed through various stages of implementation. While it is currently up and running through Heroku, the current MVP still needs some polish - it needs more modern looking styles and colors, is missing some content, and isn't really set up yet to be maintainable and updatable by anyone other than myself. I am currently refactoring the backend to integrate this app with Heroku's postgreSQL database, and then integrating that with an admin user interface.

I corresponded regularly with the other stakeholders, writing weekly status reports and continually reassessing our goals with the rest of the team. A team of two of us had about 8 weeks to go from a list of requirements from the client to an app available to all iOS and Android users. To achieve this, I leveraged the existing web app to set the style and branding of our companion app, and used component-based structure to design custom Flutter widgets for cleaner, scalable code.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a substitute for licensed staff in buildings when teachers are absent. Some of the important responsibilities of this position include becoming familiar with building staff philosophy and expectations for student behavior, teaching all curriculum areas as needed, maintaining a classroom environment that is conducive to student learning, and enforcing rules and behavioral expectations with consistency and fairness. This is in addition to many of the other responsibilities of educators, but are too numerous to list in their entirety here.

These skills and behaviors included, but were not limited to, garnering and maintaining student interest, encouraging respect for new ideas and the perspectives of other students, fostering a safe place to take intellectual risks, and promoting the development of goal setting on the part of students.
