My position is within the utility industry, primarily electric utilities. Responsible are collecting field data, entry and analysis of the data, determining remediation requirements, and coordinating the construction of the modifications to electrical and telecommunication systems. I devise new approaches to problems and prepare and modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and company standards.

Youth Exploring Science Engineering Component Lead Intern responsible for researching, leading, and completing engineering projects with inner city teenagers to motivate and excite them about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). The goal of this position was to lead the students in planning, researching, designing, budgeting, and building small scale engineering projects, as well as compete with other STEM groups on certain projects. I led projects that included building solar panels, designing and building small scale bridges, using a 3-dimensional printer, building aeroponic and aquaponic units, reverse engineering electrical components, and team building exercises. Daily tasks included collaborating with other Science Center staff members, creating projects for the teenagers to accomplish, leading them in discussions on related engineering topics, budgeting their projects, and working with them to complete engineering projects accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
