Research Associate - Sustainable Urbanization Lab

Cambridge, Massachusetts

I acted as a researcher for ongoing lab initiatives related to the field of urban and environmental economics. Collaborating with a team of international data scientists, economists, statisticians, and sociologists we develop research regarding investments in mass transportation systems, green buildings, and healthy buildings to better understand their efficacy in the built environment and the ability of each to positively impact the quality of life and overall well-being of people in cities. One specialized area of research is geared towards improving the overall environmental, social, and governance outcomes for firms by analyzing how better indoor environmental quality contributes to the health, cognition, and performance of workers. The publications produced by this lab are published in some of the top urban planning and economics journals and are used to help inform legislators, academics, and building owners on best-practices in the built environment.

Teaching Assistant

Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States

I participated in the curriculum development and teaching activities for the “Green Cities” practicum in Spring 2020. The theme of this course was “Clean Air and Green Travel”. It examined air pollution as a byproduct of urbanization and motorization. This practicum, with the Sustainability Taskforce of the Municipal Transportation Bureau of Zhengzhou (China) as our client, embraced emerging technology & behavioral science to design high-quality, evidence-based green development plans for the city.

Summer Associate

New York, New York, United States

In my position at The Related Companies, I assisted in the ground-up development of a $125 million luxury residential tower on Manhattan's west side. Reporting to the Vice President of Design and Construction, I participated in coordination meetings with architects, engineers, contractors, and the development team to help ensure that project schedules and costs were kept on time and on budget. Relying on my experience as an architect, I was also tasked with ensuring the design coordination of the construction documentation for this and other ground-up development projects for the firms. In addition to these duties, I collaborated with the asset management and development teams to conduct a feasibility study for the development of a new product offering on behalf of the company and the potential acquisition of multiple properties to bring the idea to fruition. In this role, I undertook a portfolio analysis to understand where and how this new product offering could fit into the overall profile of the company in addition to unique and bespoke assessments of potential proposals. In doing so, I worked with this team to develop financial analyses, development proposals, and design pitches that were prepared for formal presentation to executive management at the end of the summer.
