Family Services Specialist Ii
CurrentUtilizes case management and eligibility skillsets to evaluate and determine for initial eligibility to various governmental assistance including Food Stamps and Medi-Cal, while applying periodic reviews of confidential financial and personal information for the determination of ongoing eligibility for benefits.•Interviews applicant/recipient in order to gather information needed to determine eligibility for public assistance;•Responds to inquiries regarding program eligibility and employment services;•Reviews, evaluates and verifies the accuracy and completeness of information submitted by the applicant/recipient;•Refers families to eligibility and employment assistance programs;•Utilizes case controls/case alerts to maintain accurate data as required;•Explains rules, regulations, court orders and policies to customers/families and the public to apprise them of their rights, responsibilities, and eligibility for participation;•Makes appropriate follow up on case data including but not limited to contacting customers regularly and monitoring eligibility to assure compliance with program requirements;•Maintains accurate and complete data so that necessary case records and documents are processed and updated within time limits established by regulation and local policy;•Utilizes automated database systems to establish and maintain case data on families receiving assistance;•Researches and prepares written and/or oral reports and correspondence as required;•Interpret and apply the laws, rules and regulations governing eligibility and grant determination for public assistance programs and employment services programs;•Obtain personal information concerning income, financial resources, martial status, etc. according to a complex set of rules and regulations and provide information regarding resources available;•Apply interview and data gathering techniques and perform in depth and interactive interviewing to determine program eligibility;
