For over 20 years, Kristy has worked in the field of education as a teaching artist, classroom teacher, director, administrator, curriculum designer and professor. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Theatre from New York University, a M.A. in Theatre from California State University Los Angeles and a B.F.A. in Theatre from Texas State University.Kristy is passionate about writing and leading engaging curriculum for K-12 in a variety of subjects. She is currently writing SEL/literacy-based curriculum for I Would Rather Be Reading/Mindful Literacy and serving as a Program Coordinator for Common Threads nutritional education programming in Los Angeles. Kristy was the performing arts lead teaching artist at Inner-City Arts, where she created and taught original curricula for a variety of in-school, after-school and summer camp programs in both theatre and film. She has created and coached classroom teachers in arts integration strategies. Kristy incorporates DEI, SEL and 21st Century Skills into her student-centered lessons. At NYU, Kristy served as the Assistant to the Program Director where she coordinated the university’s first Teaching Artist Conference in addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. She has also taught “Dramatic Activities in the Elementary Classroom” at California State University.Kristy’s prior teaching experience also includes The Accelerated School, Mirman School for Gifted Children, Zachary Scott Theatre Performing Arts School, and Seattle Children’s Theatre.Most recently, Kristy was a contributor for Theatre for Change: Education, Social Action, and Therapy.Kristy also owns and operates Entertaining Adventure, a scavenger hunt company based in Los Angeles. Entertaining Adventure provides customized hunts for corporate team-building events and individual celebrations.
