• Case Officer Investigations: carrying out in-house investigation of allegations made against Nursing and Midwifery Council registrants. • Case management of a high volume of individual cases (110+) in accordance with NMC operating procedures• Management of cases using the Case Management System (CMS) • Compilation of evidence for the Investigating Committee, from a range of external practitioners; and effective and efficient progression of the associated casework to enable the NMC to fulfil its obligation to protect the public.• Management of all witnesses for each of my cases to ensure they agree to travel to the hearing and arrive on time with the correct information• Due to the large case load, prioritisation of all case work is extremely important and involves making decisions about what can be done and what needs to be delegated to Case Administrators• Building relationships with individuals in other departments and organisations including: lawyers, Case Administrators, Admin, Scheduling, Screening, NHS and Nurses Union Reps.• Understanding detailed policies and NMC procedural frameworks and their application to individual cases including: discussion with lawyers and effective handling of questions from Nurses under investigation, which can be made more complicated by their emotional involvement with the case• Standard and non-standard letter and report writing• Mentoring of more junior team members including training and quality checking output• Influencing internal Standard Operating Policy to ensure the NMC policy is delivered to a high standard
Case Administrator
• Management of other Case Administrators work-loads via a team job log I created to ensure work was logged and shared evenly to ensure all work was completed on time – I believe this was the reason I was promoted to Case Officer after just 6 months at the NMC• Assisting Case Officers with the processing of cases ensuring that the processes are dealt with effectively and within statutory timescales.• Identify errors in the cases and making recommendations to - Case Officers about appropriate action to take• Gathering further information and facts to progress cases e.g. requesting Psychiatric reports for Nurses who are under investigation• Liaising with both Nurses under investigation, and witnesses by keeping them informed of the progression of the case, and where appropriate answering questions they have about the cases and NMC policy• Dealing with questions from people who are often emotionally connected to the case required a thorough understanding of NMC protocols so I could take appropriate action in response to questions• Standard and non-standard letter writing (put more emphasis on written communication)• Dealing with all incoming mail
Lagal Assistant
• Office Operations, data entry, customer service, fax operations, daily mail, • Client registration, liaison with client and sister companies. • Management of 90 client files• Team management• Trial preparation • Maintain and manage lawyers diary• Pro-active liaison with client’s making sure they are informed of case progress• Ability to work with initiative on my own and as part of a team• Daily management of client files, ie. Any court dates approaching, time limits or outstanding work on files that needed to be done.
