Responsible for long-term, strategic planning and day-to-day team leadership of the human capital management team inside Shelby County Schools' office of Strategic Teacher Recruitment and Staffing. This work is part of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's $92 million investment in the district's Teacher Effectiveness Initiative.

Striving and Achievement Schools – The New Teacher ProjectDevelop and guide hiring strategies for schools in the district that have been deemed “high-need” and are traditionally under-performing. Design recruitment and selection models and interview rubrics to influence hiring decisions. Set. monitor and meet ambitious goals that support the early hiring of high quality teachers - for 2012-13 school term, successfully staffed more than 400 positions, ensuring schools opened 100% staffed. Drive strategy and processes that align with national and state-level reform efforts. Manage and direct the scope of work for key staffing team members. Serve on cross-functional teams that develop fiscal, labor, hiring, and retention policies. Advocate for innovative hiring strategies while navigating multiple factors including layoffs, hiring restrictions, tenure, and new-hire processing. Interact with high-level external clients including the Chief of School Operations and Associate Superintendent of Human Resources. Maintain data management systems and provide weekly data reports for the initiative. Act as a member of the leadership team to develop long-term plans, calendars, timelines, processes and systems to ensure effective and early hiring takes place.

Successfully impacted hiring practices in Memphis City Schools district and facilitated effective teacher placement for more than 500 positions in approx. 50 schools. Collaborated with principals and other school-based hiring staff to implement best practices for hiring, managing, and retaining staff by delivering individualized professional development. Relationship manager for district staff, partner programs and other stake holders as needed. Engaged district and school staff in ongoing problem solving and generating innovative solutions to program challenges. Met aggressive staffing goals for the largest region within the district. Overall project manager for internal staffing process that transitioned more than 300 displaced personnel.

American Heart AssociationProvided staff leadership in planning, development, maintenance, implementation and evaluation of cause marketing activities. Overall project manager, responsible for ensuring the efficient growth of the Start! Heart Walk and Memphis Heart Ball. Successfully raised more than $1 million for the AHA. Developed a strategic fund raising plan, including goal setting, market potentials, objectives, strategies, evaluation and cost effective techniques. Monitored volunteer recruitment, budgets and implementation of fund raising plan. Achieved fundraising goals through sponsorship solicitation and other income streams. Conducted fundraising analysis and strategy meetings with leadership and team members to support goal achievement. Anticipated possible problem areas and recommended approaches to prevent occurrence, reduce impact, or overcome barriers to campaign/event implementation. Increased campaign revenue by 24% in 2008 and 44% in 2009.

Directed corporate philanthropic development initiatives to assist St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Developed and managed $200,000-$500,000 cause marketing programs on a national and multi-regional level. Fostered and developed corporate partnerships to increase financial support. In addition, generated marketing plans to optimize and retain existing corporate partner programs. Planned, organized, and managed special projects associated with the cultivation of corporate donors. Facilitated production of corporate communications pieces including presentations, marketing communications plans, and conference reports. Represented the organization on a national level to encourage sponsorship and awareness of its initiatives and activities. Developed departmental Intranet page. Maintained donor accounts in enterprise-wide database.
