Peer-Assisted Learning LeaderMacquarie University Feb 2012 - Dec 2013Macquarie’s Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) program helps students gain confidence with course content, improve their English skills, and meet fellow student’s. I begun PAL at the beginning of semester one 2012, on invitation from the Department of Psychology. I began as a PAL leader for PSY 104 (Introductory Psychology I). In addition to this I established PAL for the Biological Sciences (BIOL108 - Human Biology). Implementing this program involved meeting with the convenor, sourcing a venue, arranging session times and advertising the new component of the unit to students (through lecture announcements, iLearn communication, and flyer distribution). The final session saw an attendance of 125 students! We received amazing feedback from students and the Department decided to set aside budget to incorporate PAL into more Biology units. I recently managed and coordinated PAL for BIOL115 (DNA - The Thread of Life) and BIOL257 (Neurophysiology). I also ran PAL sessions for PSY 122 (Design and Statistics I) and again for Introductory Psychology I.• Facilitated collaborations amongst several key stakeholders • Developed and delivered program content• Recruitment and development of new PAL coaches -
