Vice President Corporate Development & Licensing
Avp - Business Development
Senior Director - Business Operations & Alliance Management
Director - Procurement
Director - Medical Device Procurement
I was recruited to lead the company’s Medical Device Procurement team with an annual spend responsibility of $500 M. Over the first 12 months we garnered senior management’s approval to grow the team from 3 FTEs to 7 in order to better support the spend and associated P&L’s.When I came into the role the team had a 2017 savings pipeline of $3 M. When 2017 closed, the team delivered $12 M in annualized savings (360% to goal) with a 2018 project pipeline of $20 M in incremental annualized savings. This was achieved through a number of different levers with one of the most significant being an initiative to begin sourcing high volume disposable/consumable medical devices direct from OEM manufacturers in Asia. This was accomplished by better leveraging the internal manufacturing division’s warehousing and distribution infrastructure. This initiative removed the need for distributors and saved 20-50% ($11.5 M) on key Medical Device categories. These projects and should cost models also laid the foundation for the team to begin driving the company’s first ever global sourcing strategies to harmonize sourcing strategies across all regions and businesses with plans to execute on them in late 2018. In parallel to executing on savings projects we've also begun projects to streamline and facilitate project approvals by working with key P&L leaders to better define change management SOP’s. We’re also introducing better reporting metrics to aid with senior executive discussions and improve how we demonstrate the value Procurement is delivering to increase profitability and margin contribution.
Global Category Manager - Api'S & Chemicals
I was promoted to manage the Chemicals & API Global Category $130 MM spend. Projects identified in the initial 3 months are expected to yield $3 MM annually with additional projects being scoped regularly. As part of the BD acquistion of CareFusion, I am leading cross functional teams to integrate and harmonize category strategies for materials that have divergent category strategies across the two legacy companies today. By harmonizing divergent category strategies we expect to realize an additional $3 MM in annual savings to start.I am also in the process of taking highly fractioned and compartmentalized, site specific API category strategies and harmonizing them into a global category strategy to present to Procurement Leadership for approval. The unified global category strategy is expected to yield an incremental $1 MM in annual savings due to increased market purchase power through leveraging global volumes.
Strategic Sourcing Advisor
I was recruited to help lead the sourcing activities surrounding the acquisition of the Vital Signs medical device, specialty disposable business from GE Healthcare and manage a $100 MM finished good, medical device spend.I analyzed the supplier portfolio (previously unknown supply base for the company) for financial risks and opportunities to include identifying and leading supplier consolidation opportunities requiring cross-functional support. The projects I identified in the initial few months delivered annualized PPV of $2 MM in the first year with an ideation pipeline to reach best in class 4-5% return on spend within 18 months.
Api Sourcing Associate
I was primarily involved with API for finished dose operations with additional procurement oversight for vertically integrated API programs. I was also brought into the Biosimilar development programs to help establish global procurement and strategic sourcing practices regarding Drug Substance and Direct Materials within that business critical space. My notable successes and responsibilities included:Supported $45 MM spend across 3 major API categories in 2013.Directly managed $11.4 MM spend in 2014 while continuing to support $45 MM spend.Achieved 220% of favorable net PPV goals in 2013.Achieved 286% of favorable net PPV goals in 2014.Established a vertically integrated supply chain for a cost driving critical API intermediate that reduced API cost by 32% and increased the finished dose contribution margin by 4.4%.
Program Manager - Sourcing And Procurement
After 1.5 years of experience I was promoted to manage Austin's Sourcing and Procurement Team of 7 sourcing and procurement specialists and technicians. My team was primarily responsible for contractual sourcing and procurement of R&D small molecules for large proprietary pharmaceutical companies' development/pipeline programs. My responsibilities included refining sourcing strategies, departmental management to include staffing responsibility, managing supplier relationships and being the single point of accountability for the contractual sourcing and procurement program. I co-developed the SOP's and developed Training/On-boarding Programs for the department. These led to the sustainable success of the department and are still in effect today. My team was able to significantly increase efficiency which enabled the simultaneous 25% growth of our contractual programs.
Sourcing And Procurement Associate
I was hired out of my undergraduate program as a sourcing and procurement specialist with an emphasis in life sciences and fine chemicals. It was a unique position in which I gained a broad understanding of supply chains in various chemical industries such as pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, flavors & fragrances, solvents and neutraceuticals. My primary responsibilities included raw material/supply investigations, contractual sourcing and procurement support, supply chain development and supply chain security investigations/analysis.I especially enjoyed the international business experience I was able to gain immediately out of my undergraduate program by coordinating sourcing and procurement information with offices and suppliers in the EMEA, China & India.
