I am a fresh post graduate in Applied Geology from Presidency University, Kolkata. In my academic career I have been always a hardworking student and an avid learner. I have done my masters thesis on the topic "Quantitative Discrimination between Deep water and Shallow water dolomites" under the supervision of Prof Joydip Mukhopadhyay, Presidency University, Kolkata. My thesis endeavours to explore the differences between these two dolomite types based on their characteristics, occurrences and geochemical and isotopic compositions by using statistical analysis. I have also done an industrial training from GSI Training Institute, where elemental distribution pattern of stream sediments, their spatial relation with lithology of parts of areas in East Dharwar Craton were studied using ArcGIS. I was a summer intern at IITM Pune, under the supervision of Dr. Saikat Sengupta, Scientist E, where I studied long term rainfall study of Mahabaleswar, India, in the context of meteorological parameters like sea surface temperature, surface temperature, relative humidity and rainfall, based on stable isotope data of rain. I aspire to become a geologist.Apart from studying I like to read books, write, cook and study geopolitical analyses.

This thesis endeavours to explore the differences between these two dolomite types. Based on their depth ofdeposition, the dolomite deposits can be broadly subdivided into (1) deep-water dolomitesand (2) shallow-water dolomites. There lie considerable differences between the two deposittypes. A comparative study on the deep-water and shallow-water dolomites have beenattempted in this thesis. Based on studies of the various parameters like characteristics, occurrences and geochemical and isotopic compositions are discussed in this thesis and anattempt has been also made to discriminate these two types of dolomite deposits based onstatistical analysis.
