Karen Swift is a high school Head of Department and teacher dedicated to connecting, supporting and encouraging learners. Karen has contributed to national eLearning projects for ACARA, AITSL and ESA. As Chair for the former QCAA State Panel for Economics, member of the Humanities Learning Area Reference Group and current Chief Endorser for Economics she has driven the Queensland Economics curriculum, school based assessment and moderation processes. She has presented at ISTE conferences, designed and delivered statewide, regional and local professional development programs and planned, coordinated and led international study tours for Australian educators to North American IT corporations, education institutions and ISTE Conferences in 2013 and 2014. Additionally, Karen was the 2016 ACCE conference program coordinator.Karen holds the Education Queensland Digital Pedagogy Licence-Advanced, received the 2009 EQ SmartClassrooms Teacher Award, the 2014 ISTE: Making IT Happen Award and the 2017 QSITE: Leader of the Year Award. She was appointed as an ISTE Board member from 2016 to 2018, and served as ISTE Board Treasurer in 2018. Karen is the Australian Council for Computers in Education/Australian Computer Society Leader of the Year Award for 2019.Karen is a mother of two young adults, is an avid fan of Rugby Union and in her personal life enthusiastically volunteers in leadership roles to support local school, sporting and community associations. She has particularly enjoyed her volunteer roles at the Gympie Music Muster, a major 4-day music festival in her local area, where she has worked in Administrative Services and Artist Services since 2005.
