Senior Application Engineer

Houston, Texas Area

When hiring onto the Loher Division of Siemens Industry I continued application engineering specific to the IEC market and was the lead within both the Siemens and Loher Divisions in shortening the spand between the US based API541 and IEEE841 specifications and those of the IEC 60034 and IEC 60079. This was in an effort to work within our customers and manufacturing industry to create a more "global friendly" solution to companies that are worldwide where IEC is the basis but API requirements are needed. My responsibilities remained in proposal preparation and submittal, front end designing, and reading/applying some of our most difficult specifications. Duties also included order write up and project managing the order. Via SAP, I was responsible for the creation of our material masters (aka engineering part number and the features associated with it vs a "stock or pre engineered" part). The first 2 years I was the sole source for all of my divisions order management including customer service between the customer and our factory. This entailed coordination of all orders for our divisions International shipments between customer, plant and freight forwarder . I assisted in keeping inventory up to date, participating in warehouse inventory counts quarterly, and creation of purchase requisitions. I became an IEEE member and attended our pump and compression conferences as well as Oil and Gas specific conferences and trade shows. My time at Siemens gave me the opportunity to become a more versatile engineer in that I am now familiar with both our oil and gas US based specifications, as well as having expanded my knowledge base to include our IEC market. It added the skill to understanding/applying IEC standards, and knowing the differences between NEC/NEMA vs IEC.Most of my knowledge base is specific to motors (medium and high voltage being my specialty) although I have handled 3 large low voltage VFD projects for alliance accounts and end users.

Global Sales Support/Project Manager/Application Engineer

Reliance Electric/Rockwell Automation/Baldor Electric

Houston, Texas Area

Started with Reliance Electric and maintained an inside sales support position handling motors and low voltage drives for 4 yrs before moving into one of our largest alliances Global Sales Support role/front end application engineer. I maintained that position for 13 years. Some of my additional responsibilities also included being a single point of contact as a project manager for several large projects running simultaneously as well as a technical resource for customers and inter-company based on my strong background in the API and IEE standards. When Reliance was purchased by Rockwell Automation my product base was broadened to also include some MCC (motor control centers), a small amount of PLC (programmable logic control) exposure, and medium voltage VFDs. It was after the sale of Reliance to Baldor that the Alliance Global Account Manager role addition became an added part of my responsibilities. Baldor Electric is now a part of the ABB organization.
