Taking the lead role within the service to support, guide and impart knowledge to the service, to develop trauma-informed practice, care planning, and support the stabilising of placements for children. Essentially, my duties focus on the daily delivery and continuous development of the in-house therapeutic service to ensure the provision of high-quality therapeutic intervention.

The role with Capstone has three elements: i) Provision of direct support / consultation to foster carers. The intention is to support the development of the placement and maintain its stability, as well as developing their skill as therapeutic parents. ii) Provision of therapeutic intervention to a young person in the care of Capstone. iii) Provision of assessment / formulation (which is the basis of plan of intervention whilst the young person is in the care of Capstone). Further the above are the fundamentals of the role - I have to manage the scheduling of appointments, be responsive to safeguarding concerns and work in-line with organisational policy, relevant legislation and adhere to the professional standards as set-out within the professional and ethical framework of the BACP.

Essentially, my duties focus on the development of the in-house therapeutic service to ensure continuity of growth and sustainability, whilst embedding best practice and processes that create evidence as well as supporting clinicians to provide high quality therapeutic work.

I am providing therapeutic support to a cohort of young people who are long-term absentees from Education due to their prolonged experience of emotional distress. This is in conjunction with the Calderdale's Medical Needs Team.

I was instrumental in the set-up and start-up of a private company offering supported accommodation and therapeutic activity; I was involved every aspect of start-up from designing the environment to designing the working practices thus making sure the business was compliant with relevant legal and regulatory requirements - meeting standards expected by CQC. I was singularly responsible for designing and delivering the therapeutic aspect of the service. I devised the environment to be attachment minded with an importance placed on relational processes, by training a staff-team in the practical implementation of therapeutic parenting skills. The direct work with the client was relational and integrative, utilising 'skills' work pulled from DBT, trauma-informed 'psycho-education' and general counselling.

Promoted into Team Manager role which meant as well as being a key member of a specialist investigation team I took on additional responsibilities such as the supervision of a small team of Practitioners. overseeing daily operations and management of safeguarding concerns and ultimately designing the case-work/project-work delivered by the service. Within the organisation I was tasked to write original programmes of work that were rolled-out both nationally and locally i.e. therapeutic parenting manual, therapeutic group work and digital safety. Other duties included the production of quarterly performance reports, service audits; maintaining case records, delivering training inputs and writing bids.

Working as a 'spoke' (within a Hub & Spoke Model) enlisted with developing and building Wakefield's professional response to managing Child Sexual Exploitation meaning I was a founder member of a specialist investigation team. I was directly involved in assessing risk and subsequently providing intervention to a case-load of 'high-risk' young people and supporting them through the criminal justice process. I was Wakefield district's 'specialist point of contact' for CSE providing information, advice, guidance and training inputs to the children's workforce and the local community e.g. high-schools / residential homes / faith groups.
