Currently, as an intelligence analyst working in the Strategic Intelligence and Risk Assessment Division at the Enforcement Branch of ECCC, I am leading an Operational Intelligence Assessment (OIA) on the Wastewater Systems and Effluent Regulations (WSER). The objective of this project is to risk rank wastewater treatment facilities subject to the WSER through the development and use of non-compliance indicators. Typical tasks include: data collection, data analysis by using SQL, pandas, NumPy, and matplotlib in python, consulting with internal stakeholders and partners, presenting the project methodology and non-compliance indicators to the WSER working group, and reviewing and analyzing previous enforcement projects related to the WSER. Other responsibilities include completing findings and analysis reports for national enforcement projects, co-leading student hiring, student supervision, and supporting the team with other as hoc tasks as needed.

Responsible for fulfilling the Enforcement Branch’s reporting requirements under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, the Fisheries Act, and the Chemicals Management Plan. Other key deliverables included producing the branch’s annual statistics reports, quarterly statistical reports, calculating and reporting the branches performance indicators through the corporate reporting process, producing statistical summaries and reports for nation enforcement projects and recommending performance indicators targets to management based on trend analysis of performance indicator results. Typical tasks included extracting data from the enforcement database and conducting data analysis by using Excel, PowerBI, SQL, and python pandas. I also liaised and coordinated with corporate reporting leads to address concerns and questions related to the performance indicator targets and results. Other tasks included supporting the Integrated Enforcement Planning process by keeping a record of discussion and decisions and preparing ad hoc reports for regulatory analysts and senior management.

Created new methodological efficiencies by capacity building such as developing a program in python to parse pdf documents enabling team members to leverage data to better inform components of their pollution and wildlife threat risk assessments. To write this program, I used the PyPDF2 library as well the os module and regular expression in python. I also demonstrated data analysis skills in python by completing a component of a pollution threat risk assessment resulting in significant forward progress on a major analysis project. Other tasks included conducting literature research to identify threats posed by toxic substances and summarizing research as one-pagers to better inform internal and external stakeholders and project decision makers.

As a Ministerial Correspondence and Briefing Officer, I coordinated the day-to-day operations of the Ministerial Services Unit. I ensured the efficient and effective delivery of Ministerial Services for the entire branch by processing, tasking, tracking, and completing correspondence requests, briefing material and Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) requests. This work involved liaising with the directors of MSC branches to coordinate incoming requests and negotiating deadline extensions with the ATIP office and the minister’s office. I used MS Excel to track incoming requests and produce the weekly tasking report for the ministerial unit including a statistics dashboard. Other responsibilities included training new employees along with participating in the student hiring committee. Responsibilities of this committee included coordinating job postings to University websites, performing resume evaluations, and conducting student interviews for the directorate.

Worked within a team of professionals to coordinate and fulfill resource contracting requirements within the department of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development of Canada. Daily tasks included the preparation of communication items for senior management such as; project status updates, activity reports, Task Authorization (TA) timeline reports as well as maintaining and updating the Excel activity tracking report. I also created bid binders to be used for RFP evaluations. Finally, I provided oversight of contract expenditures and prepared ad hoc reports as requested.
