About Krys O'Brien

Enthusiastic and self-motivated with a broad range of skills, areas of proficiency and interest.Acted from age 5 - played Alice in 'Alice In Wonderland' at school and from that moment on was hooked! First professional acting job was at 14 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield with 'Allo 'Allo star, Gorden Kaye in Stephen Bill's 'Final Wave'. Completed my three-year accredited drama school training: 'Advanced Acting Diploma in Performing Arts' later in life 2007-10, receiving Distinction across all modules and in the final exam. I've clothes modelled for various national magazines, including 'Woman'. I do voice work, and create videos and podcasts. I'm an Equity, Bectu, Spotlight, and Actors Centre member. I've been Presenting on Radio since 2007: Meridian FM, Radio Redhill, Uckfield FM, Redstone FM, now 107.8 Radio Jackie, and am Freelance Reporter for BBC Surrey and Sussex. I completed a one-year part-time Creative Writing course at the University of Sussex, during which time I wrote short stories and embarked upon a semi-autobiographical novel, which to this day is on-going. I have also written features for East Grinstead Living and Sussex Life Magazines, and the local papers, including the East Grinstead Courier, where I had my regular column: 'Krys Says This'. I wrote a Food Review for the Times of Tunbridge Wells. I have written radio adverts and radio plays. Fluent in English (mother tongue) and Polish. I received a full scholarship for a one-year's Polish language study course at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow 1984-85 at the time of the Cold War when Poland was still behind the Iron Curtain, before embarking on my BA Hons (Lond) degree in Polish Studies at SSEES, University of London 1985-89. Upon graduation from SSEES, I worked for Macmillan Publishers (Academic and Professional) 1989-1994.I live in West Sussex. I'm passionate about music, film, writing, video and sound editing, performing and animals. I love ice-skating and dancing, especially Ballroom and Salsa. My charity work includes marathon running (all marathons completed in under four hours), skydiving from 12,000 feet, and cycling over 118 miles. The money I raised went to the Queen Victoria Hospital's 'Peanut Children's Ward' (I was subsequently presented to Princess Anne as a VIP when she visited the hospital), 'The Children's Fire and Burns Trust', Meridian FM, and 'Action Medical Research'. I'm currently doing my Advance Motoring course with IAM Roadsmart.
