Communicate with the public to recruit participants from various organizations, agencies, civic and faith-based groups, educational institutions and individuals from the Eugene/Springfield community. Direct, instruct and engage volunteers during environmental restoration work parties and educational events.

My responsibilities have included a variety of basic molecular genetic techniques, including genetic screening by PCR, drug screening for therapeutic compounds in zebrafish embryos, and general zebrafish husbandry. Also, I have provided teaching assistance by means of driving UO students in 12-passenger vans through mountains and desert regions where I helped students catch, identify, and release native herpetofauna.

Worked with a team of Environmental Science students to contribute to the restoration and monitoring plan for critical riparian habitat in the Berggren Watershed Conservation Area in Springfield, Oregon and the Middle McKenzie Side Channel Project on the McKenzie River. Lead kindergarden through fifth grade students on nature hikes through the Alton Baker park and provided education about northwest wildlife, native plants and local natural history. Assisted children during craft-making and special activities. Provided story-telling and education about the edible landscape and gardening and composting techniques to charter school students.

Provide homework assistance to 6th and 7th grade students. Kept students engaged in fun projects and activities like cooking, model rocketry, soap-making, sewing, painting and ceramics.
