Provide overall leadership, management and direction to the Bureau of Vital Records, Cancer and Birth Defects Registries and Internal Auditing. Responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating all goals, activities, and processes within the bureau and offices to ensure that they align with the agency's strategic plan, vision, and mission• responsible for initiating communication, and building and maintaining positive relationships with the agency's key partners and stakeholders, such as: the Department's legal team, various national and local professional organizations, legislative representatives, healthcare system, and other federal, state, and local agencies, including law enforcement. Oversee program budgets, grant management, annual reporting, identification of risks and proactively recommend improvements to help reduce risks.

Direct and oversee the Bureau of Vital Records which includes the Office of Vital Records and the Medical Marijuana Card Registry Office. Ensure accurate registration and issuance of birth, death and fetal death certificates as well as medical marijuana patient and caregiver registration for the State of Arizona in accordance with governing statues and rules. Managerial responsibilities include oversight of approximately 40 staff, coordination and collaboration with local county health departments, Office of Administrative Rules, Assistant Attorney General's Office, national vital records jurisdictional partners, National Center for Health Statistics, and other key stakeholders.

Responsible for the statewide implementation of the Smoke-Free Arizona Act, A.R.S. 36-601.01 (the “Act” or “Law”) and Rules, R9-2-101 to R9-2-112. Plan, implement, and evaluate continual educational outreach, compliance assistance, and enforcement activities in accordance with the Act.

Responsible to coordinate and maintain enforcement cases in six of the fifteen counties in Arizona in accordance with the Law. For the remaining nine counties, be a resource for the counties’ enforcement activities. Prepare enforcement documents and manage enforcement casesConduct educational efforts and compliance assistance with Arizona citizens and business owners with regard to the Act statewide. Conducted education, compliance assistance and enforcement with regard to the Act statewide. Performed compliant investigations and provided guidance to Arizona citizens, business owners and county health departments with regard to the Act. Networked with multiple agencies to collaborate efforts, such agencies include but are not limited too; programs within the Arizona Department of Health Services, Arizona County Health Departments and the American Cancer Society AZ HealthLinks.
