I am currently enrolled as a second year Physician Assistant student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I am expected to graduate with a Master's of Science degree in December 2016. My previous education was received at the Huntingdon College where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's of Business Management. While attending Huntingdon, I worked full-time as a Medical Assistant at Urology Centers of Alabama which helped to teach me the importance of a team environment, leadership, and time management. I also shadowed Physician Assistants in plastic surgery and inpatient geriatrics medicine to gain skills and acquire knowledge about the medical field. My job as a Medical Assistant gave me experience in the hospital and clinical settings and taught me the importance of patient care. At UAB, I will be completing clinical rotations in OB/GYN, general surgery, orthopedic, cardiovascular surgery, pediatrics, internal medicine, outpatient medicine, urology, emergency medicine, psychology, plastics and dermatology. I currently have an interest in surgery but am open to other areas of medicine as well. I am eager to use my past academic and clinical experience as well as my current education to begin my career as a Physician Assistant.
