Krystol Austin is a Project | Design Manager currently working in the Government - Institute Practice Area who has over 9 years of experience in residential, commercial, healthcare, education, tourism, retail, hospitality, and critical facility projects. She's passionate about architecture, bamboo, biophilia​, interior design, mental accessibility, social justice, climate change​ and the architectonics of Forest Therapy. She’s a 2023 Prime Minister’s National Youth Award Nominee, a 2022 TEDx Event Speaker, and the inaugural grand prize winner of Gensler's Rising Black Designers Tuition Scholarship + Design Challenge. Gensler challenged this year’s cohort to respond to design prompts which addressed issues being faced today’s society. Most notably, the jury commended Krystol for her unique perspective on using COVID-19 protocols to create a unique / modular system of design.As a master's candidate, Krystol was also a recipient of the 2021 James A Britton Memorial Thesis prize. She secured this award for the intersectional quality of her thesis proposal Schizophrenic Architecture; a design concept which seeks to address the intercorrelations between architecture, urbanism, and mental accessibility. She's passionate about people, accessibility, design, representation and spaces. This design passion, coupled with Krystol's careful attention to detail and thoughtful communication style makes her an invaluable team member of any project goal.
