Senior and Lead Engineer, supporting a .NET + SQL Server legacy platform, and a new Java + Postgres product. Working with technologies such as Spring, Hibernate, Grails/Groovy, REST, SOAP, Tridium Niagara, and Perl in a multi-tiered application. Diagnosing hosting issues, assisting testing team, creating documentation and driving designs.

Successfully completed an entire Southbound "thru-hike" of the Appalachian Trail - a continuous wilderness footpath starting in central Maine and ending in Northern Georgia. This year an estimated 200 people began in Maine and no more than 30 were expected to finish. Along the way I maintained a custom built website with an interactive Google map (Google's JavaScript API and custom PHP) containing plots and information for every checkpoint and an integrated/customized blog software (PHP). • Senior Engineer on a team to develop a Java based multi-tier web application as well as a standalone Java Swing application. Utilized complex SQL, extensive business logic, JavaScript, Java Web Start and JDBC against an Oracle database.• Responsible for the installation, integration and development of a third party reporting layer known as Business Objects. Managed the architecture as well as implemented changes to the Universe business layer and Reports within the system.• Database Administration on Informix and Oracle systems in both support and lead roles to handle schema manipulation, performance monitoring, installation and configuration.• System Administration for Solaris, HP-UX and Linux servers in development, testing, staging, and production environments which included Apache, Tomcat, Business Objects, and Oracle 9iAS/10g iAS.• Provided subject matter and engineering expertise during the conversion of 158 databases into one centralized version.

Hired in anticipation of growing requirements and support needs following a product launch. While working for Wurld Media I continued with part time employment at Park City Solutions / ZenLogics.• Lead Developer on a promotions architecture written in Java to handle one-time use coupons, public coupons and generation of hundreds of thousands of unique and hard to guess codes.• Part of a Java development team in support of the product and user base. Used technologies such as AJAX, Hibernate, Spring Framework, and J2SE.• Installed and supported JBoss application clustering and node management in a multi-server, multi-cluster Linux environment.• Converted the code base from SourceSafe to CVS for version management. Trained personnel on CVS and was responsible for tagging, branching and building new releases.

Hired to work with a strong design group in a technical fashion to develop custom software solutions to complement the teams existing front-end skills.• Built and managed Linux and Windows servers in production and development environments.• Combined DHTML (layers, ilayers, iframes), XSL, XML, JavaScript, ASP and Cold Fusion technologies to construct highly interactive and database driven web services.• Assisted in management of clients and projects, and in the development of company business plan, and infrastructure.

Handled all phases of the development cycle, including software development, project management, systems administration, public presentations and database administration.• Member of engineering team developing multi-tier, traffic intensive internet applications primarily with a Java core. Focus on front end and integrating third party code, special attention to uptime and reliability.• Attended tradeshows in order to showcase emerging Hewlett Packard technologies using applications created by the company.• Selected to start up and manage the first European engineering department in Bristol, England. Worked closely with management in U.S. and England to define corporate structure, manage projects and personnel, develop internal systems, and attend sales meetings.• Project Manager, Engineer and Technical Lead for short deadline project critical to success in new markets - resulting in a wireless application shown to potential European and U.S. clients.
