I'd rather be camping. But camping doesn't pay very well... So luckily I'm also an Architectural Designer with a passion for technology, creativity and of course, the outdoors.Since graduating, I have been working at an engineering firm, where Architects are few and far between. Because of this, I've been assigned as the sole architectural designer on numerous projects as well as my own drafter. I've also had the opportunity to develop my leadership skills as a project manager.I see my career path eventually leading to a role of an Architectural BIM Manager. Combining what I see as my three major strengths: design, computers and leadership.DESIGN:Since an early age, I've had a knack for puzzles and problem solving. I'm stubborn when it comes to settling for something complicated, when I know that there must be a simpler solution.COMPUTERS:I've always been able to learn computer software very quickly and always jumped at the opportunity to use technology to improve the quality of my product as well as improve efficiency. I believe the future of the architecture industry lies firmly in BIM software and I'm continuously striving to become an expert in the field.LEADERSHIP:Communication. A leader requires many skills, but in my opinion, none is more important than communication. In the construction industry especially, where there are multiple disciplines, clients and contractors, communication is absolutely key.
