My position as a Supervisory Training Specialist at the USCG PPC includes maintaining official procedural guidance for the use and operation of the agency’s human resource management information and travel reimbursement systems for more than 100,000 end users. I am responsible for administering, supervising, designing, developing, and providing training programs for USCG, NOAA, and PHS service members, employees, and retired personnel. The work requires knowledge of learning theory and the principles, methods, practices, techniques and specialties of the instructional systems field. I have an in-depth knowledge of instructions on USCG, NOAA and PHS military personnel, pay, and travel policies and procedures. Independently I recognize and develop materials and methods to implement results-based learning objectives involving knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitudes. I advise and provide direction on training programs in either a staff or line capacity, create and market internal and external needs-based learning programs, advise key officials, members of boards and committees, and military and civilian program managers on policy, planning, review, and research as related to instructional or training development missions. My position requires I develop innovative and effective methods for training program improvements and recommend appropriate policy revisions, skill applications, and knowledge to solve training issues using proven methods and techniques.
