I am responsible for indexing medical records to ease the reviewing process for healthcare professionals. I read all records, label them with the appropriate category, location, provider and encounter type and put them in chronological order. Each case is due 36 hours after they are assigned. This is a fully remote, self contracted position so it is important to work in a timely manner and attention to detail is imperative.

I was responsible for checking patients in to their appointments, collecting their current and past due payments, and creating and maintaining accurate patient charts. Along with check ins, I scheduled appointments, faxed all referrals, medical documents, and bloodwork to allocated locations, verified insurance and dropped claims, and scanned and filed patient documents. I was required to know and follow all HIPAA regulations. Time management and organization was an important component of this job as the office was very busy at times while handling the scheduling and charts of multiple patients. I have been fully trained in the electronic medical records software Athenahealth.

As a Patient Care Advisor, I was responsible for educating new and current patients on the benefits of therapeutic cannabis. Through this education process, I was able to recommend certain products based on a specific illness a patient may have and work with them to find the perfect remedy for their wellness. As an alternative medical program through the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human services, each Patient Care Advisor is thoroughly trained in all state regulations, especially HIPAA compliance.
