I cover breaking news and enterprise angles of Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Zion and Grand Canyon National Parks as well as federal, state and tribal lands in southern Utah and northern Arizona. With the Report for America initiative by the Ground Truth Project, this position includes a service project mentoring journalism students at Dixie High School. My work has been picked up by AP, USA Today and many others.

I was placed in St. George, UT to cover National Parks for The Spectrum & Daily News/USA Today Network with Report for America. This "Peace Corps for Journalism" focuses on placing reporters to cover underreported issues in small or news desert communities. I have the privilege of mentoring youth, to be mentored to, training sessions and conferences, nationwide networking and publication and advocating for local news and democracy.

I build in-depth databases and graphics weekly on issues in the West for The Deseret News. Covering Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming. My projects include a fact-checked and analyzed database, an accompanying story and a graph or illustrative graphic plus an occasional radio interview.

Wrote investigations and in-depth pieces, filed and processed FOIA requests, organized complex data sets, fact-checked articles and graphics, and conducted interviews.

I am the first editor of this new section at BUNS that I helped create. I pitch stories and graphics to our writers. I help writers with their stories by providing guidance, deadlines, edits and public records requests. I also make graphics and interactives for my section andthe entire publication. Every Friday, I lead a team of reporters to make a graphic or interactive called the “Weekly Wonder.”

I was an investigative intern at the New England Center for Investigative Reporting centered at WGBH. I focused on researching legal documents, government data, political data and research on individuals. I also conducted interviews, pitch and wrote my own stories, as well as assisted other reporters with their stories in print and in radio. Finally, I helped the data visualization and digital teams at WGBH. In the summer of 2017, I worked with NECIR as the Program Coordinator for their high school journalism program.

As the investigative intern on the national in-depth team, I deep dove into stories onissues involving minors as well as mental health. Every week I wrote for the paper’snational edition about “data you can’t miss” or a section asking provoking questionsabout the published pieces. I pitched, researched, interviewed, wrote and edited my ownstories, as well as compiled data and studies for graphics. I wrote five stories with two appearing on A1. I practiced solutions journalism and focused on a faith and family angle.

I revived the Boston University Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, and made it one of the most prominent chapters in the region.

Responsibilities include pitching science story ideas, training writers, and editing articles. Also, I contribute with data reporting and public records on the investigative team. Past positions include news writer and features writer.

I spent the summer mentoring high school journalism students, helping to edit their stories and facilitated meetings with media companies and journalists. I also had the pleasure of touring them around Boston during their free time.
