Making sure school districts "See Every Student" by developing best-in-class MTSS and Analytics solutions for K-12 school districts across the country.As a Staff Software Engineer I quickly came up to speed on a large and complex PHP/MariaDB/Vue.js code base allowing me to immediately start fixing bugs and adding features to the code base. I handled a wide variety of emergency bug fixes, data cleanup projects for customers, and issues with 3rd party APIs. I reviewed and improved slow SQL queries to increase database and application performance. I monitored and handled DataDog reported issues in a timely manner. I participated in code reviews and collaboration with other developers.From the start, I implemented an easy-to-use Docker local development environment allowing developers to troubleshoot and test locally. I helped improve code quality by implementing unit testing using PHPUnit/Mockery and adding CodeSniffer checks using GitHub hooks to make sure new code changes met standards. I worked with the dev-ops team to improve backup processes. As I learned the code and environment, I added a large amount of documentation in order to share knowledge and allow for quicker onboarding of new developers. I took the initiative to spearhead designing and creating specifications for the usage of a 3rd party API used by multiple Renaissance product teams. I created a plan for a better Git branching workflow for development, staging, production environments.

As a Software Architect at Locafy I had a unique opportunity to concentrate on full-stack development in a small but highly effective team without having to spend my time managing other engineers. I spent the year honing my existing programming skills while gaining knowledge of many new technologies.I designed and implemented AWS environments using Cloudformation and Ansible. I ported an existing .NET middleware to a more performant PHP framework built from scratch. I integrated Auth0.com's OAuth2 libraries into our application extending it with a custom system for tracking and expiring JWT tokens. I built a data warehouse using Databricks Warehouse and a custom Python ETL tool to gather disparate data sources for business reporting. I implemented Auth0's third party cookies into Cypress automated tests so we could properly test applications and APIs. I worked with other team members to create a new customer management system in Yii and Vue. I developed many more proof-of-concept projects and data transformation tools while also fixing bugs and adding new features to legacy PHP applications. It was a year full of deep dives into new technologies while working with some of the best developers I have ever had the opportunity to work with.Locafy has given me a chance to widen my knowledge base as a Software Architect and I am ready to once again share my knowledge with a new team and build some really great software.

As a CTO at MobyMax, I work directly with the Product/Design team to architect new tools, new features, and changes to existing code. I work with project leads and the development team to plan and implement the new features in PHP, Javascript/React, MySQL, and various other technologies. I keep the path forward clear by anticipating roadblocks, troubleshooting errors, assisting with MySQL query optimization, evaluating new tools, facilitating communications with the Product/Design team, and reviewing code. I work directly with the Quality Assurance team to confirm the implementation and general stability using manual and automated tools. Once it has passed QA, I work with the DevOps team to schedule releases to our production environment.During my time at MobyMax, the company has grown by leaps and bounds. We have significantly changed our tech stack utilizing new technologies while also changing how we develop, test, and deploy. Working with other stake holders in the organization, we have streamlined our processes to improve how our global, 100% telecommuting teams communicate and how projects are managed resulting in an increase from 1 release a month to an average of a release every 2 days.MobyMax has given me a great opportunity to learn new technologies while also challenging me to grow as a manager of both projects and people.

Director of Software Engineering - Omni Ventures Architected and oversaw multiple software projects including a cloud storage service and an inventory system. In addition I managed multiple in-house and outsourced programmers and support staff. Worked closely with the CIO to help with system and network design.Senior Programmer - ADrive.com Designed and built ADrive.com, a cloud storage service, serving over 2 1/2 million users with more than a petabyte of user data. ADrive.com offers a web-based file manager, multiple uploaders, webDAV, SFTP, FTP, Rsync, mobile app and multiple desktop applications. The system was built for high availability at both the software and systems level by utilizing a pooled design to spread users/load across multiple databases, server pools, file servers and physical data centers. Member of a small team of software engineers working in a rapidly growing web-hosting company developing customer tools and back end systems.
