Established product data management (PDM) processes and supply chain relationships to enable data-storage start-up Pivot3, Inc. to ramp up shipments. Developed product concept for off-grid cooking applications for a nonprofit, Climate Healers.• Implemented Arena PLM to manage product configurations and specifications.• Steered the establishment of manufacturing services agreements with two contract manufacturers.• Managed the introduction of two new hardware platforms into manufacturing.• Drove several supplier performance issues that had been festering to successful closure.• Designed, prototyped and characterized solar thermal storage concept for cooking applications.

Established Manufacturing and Quality, IT and Facilities functions for start-up that develops and builds capacitive load cells and sensors. Actively involved in product management, sales, engineering and raising capital. Responsible for product verification and validation. • Established and managed supply chain relationships for machined metal and PCBA’s.• Set up and ran final assembly, calibration and testing facility in-house. • Hired manufacturing staff—engineer, buyer/planner, documentation, technician and operators.• With CEO and VP of Engineering, raised two rounds of venture financing for a total of $8M.• Introduced two generations of sensors and several accessories.

Established Manufacturing for a startup that developed and built liquid cooling systems for computers and consumer electronics. Ramped first product from technology development to $6M in shipments in the first quarter of production. Cooligy was acquired by Emerson Electric in September 2005.• Established business relationship with a contract manufacturer (CM) in China.• Developed supply base for custom and commodity components.• Developed and implemented the manufacturing line to mass produce Cooligy’s first product, meeting quality and on-time delivery goals.• Established product life cycle, operations, and quality system processes.• Implemented small-business ERP system (Made2Manage).

Shipped over $1.2B in orders meeting company revenue, cost and on-time delivery goals for eleven straight quarters. Introduced new supply chain systems and processes with significant measured return.• Ensured successful, timely introduction of 4 new platforms and numerous interface cards into production. Managed end-of-life for many products.• Conceived and implemented supply chain visibility, planning and integration systems that led to documented improvements in on-time delivery and inventory liability reductions (over $60 MM in 2001). Systems implemented include Manugistics and Valdero.• Worked closely with Solectron management to identify gaps and improve the level of service across the board—material management, technical support, quality and new product introductions. Renegotiated contract to improve Juniper flexibility and Solectron performance.• Closed out the Juniper-Solectron relationship while meeting all NPI, shipment, and cost goals. • Drove the development and implementation of TL 9000 compliant processes across Juniper to successfully achieve ISO 9000 and TL 9000 certification within 12 months.

Defined and implemented strategy to minimize product returns and associated costs. Reduced annual cost of returned products from $20MM to under $4MM even as revenues doubled.Directed the transition of PDM (Product Data Management) from a legacy system supporting internal manufacturing to one optimized for complete outsourced manufacturing.

Defined, conducted and reported on experimental research projects on alternative fuels and emissions control for clients in government and industry.
