Oversaw the delivery of risk management products and services to a $180 million dollar premium base of insureds spread out across the United States and Puerto Rico. Responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of PHICOnet, a secure extranet risk management/claims information system for insureds and their broker/agent.Provided written in-depth analysis to the Senior Vice President of Risk Management on new and emerging health care risk management issues and federal legislation on both clinical and non-clinical risks.Identified vendors to develop strategic relationships with and then negotiated contracts for specific risk and safety services/products for various types of insureds - hospitals, long-term care, home health and physician clinics.

Developed long and short-term strategic business plans for all risk management products and services provided to insureds for several lines of coverage.Responsible for managing an incident reporting system with modules for long- term care, acute care, behavioral medicine and clinics deployed to over 400 insured clients. Created with IT staff a Risk & Safety Management Department Intranet site that increased utilization of existing resources and risk management information resulting in an increased level of knowledge and expertise among PHICO Risk Management Consultants in the field.Directed the Risk Management Education Unit and achieved accreditation status from the American College of Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) for continuing medical education programs.Participated in a Total Quality Management (TQM) project to redesign the claims coding process for medical malpractice claims. The new coding scheme provided more detailed information to insureds and risk management staff on the nature and issues of individual claims.

Delivered on-site risk management consulting services to over 40 assigned accounts in a four-state region - Colorado, Kansas, Wyoming and Nebraska. Performed clinical risk assessments of high risk areas like the emergency department, labor and delivery, intensive care, and surgical services both in and outpatient. Also performed assessments of physician office practices and clinics, adolescent psychiatric inpatient facilities, and long term care treatment facilities.

Credentialed vocational instructor contracted with a community college Emergency Medical Training Program to present lectures and training on emergency medical care and treatment.Taught on a contract basis in various Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) courses, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) classes, basic and advance cardiac rhythm interpretation courses, and ACLS preparation courses at several Colorado Hospitals.
