Play It By Ear is a digital media production company which creates fresh and innovative content for a broad spectrum of clients and for a variety of platforms. Projects range in size from short promos to full length documentaries. Radio documentaries for BBC World Service have been a particular highlight and you can still listen to Forest Fear, A Spiritual Awareness from Space and Las Vegas Stripped Bare on BBC Sounds.I get involved in all aspects of production from initial concept (including meeting clients, storyboarding/treatment boards) to final delivery.I have a wealth of experience organising and directing shoots both here and abroad, budgeting, permissions, booking facilities and staff where needed. I have good technical skills using the editing platform FCP X, Motion, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign in addition to the usual Microsoft Office Suite. Other skills include script writing, voice over production for both English and foreign languages; provision of in-store radio which involves editing of interviews and scheduling music.I make sure that all projects are carried out according to client brief, on time, on budget and delivered in formats suitable for clients needs.

I have had the privilege of working with the very talented Learning team here at the Science Museum. As video manager I have helped to create a suite of videos both live action and animation to support the learning experience for schools and families.I developed and executed a multi-phase project plan for delivery of these films, working with the team to define the creative treatment and content including scripting and ideation.I commissioned the films, audio and other services, coordinating tenders, managing the subsequent contracts and maintaining budgets and schedules. I acted as the main day-to-day point of contact at the Science Museum for external suppliers and internal stakeholders within the Science Museum. I also managed assets, consent forms, contracts and attended film shoots as a supporting producer.

My role at Londonwide LMCs (a membership organisation that is the statutory representative body for 95% of London GPs) was very varied and focused both on internal and external communications to a variety of stakeholders. Avenues of communication can be through social media – Facebook and Twitter, email alerts, video, podcasts, newsletters and a variety of printed materials. I have used Indesign to create fact sheets aimed at general practise and inserts for the annual report. With Illustrator I have designed stickers to be used in GP surgeries, web banners and posters that formed part of the recent Build Resilience – Take Control marketing campaign. My knowledge of video and audio production has been particularly useful in providing Londonwide LMCs with a selection of videos as a new way of connecting with our members. This involved interviewing key speakers associated with primary healthcare. I also instigated an audio version of the monthly newsletter for one of the individual LMCs, which have been well received and boosted open rates. While primarily using Apple software for editing, I am also skilled with the Adobe Creative Suite of products.

I took on the challenge of overseeing 19 hours of live programming, seven days a week. Juggling a team of 24 staff and additional freelance workers, I was also responsible for maintaining department payroll, staff holidays and sickness, staff schedules, and in-house training. I ensured full operation of live studio, commissioned and scheduled product promotions and on-air promos and oversaw purchasing and installation of new equipment.This role allowed me to gain an insight into television as a sales medium, the creative use of on-air promotional marketing tools together with the opportunity of managing a large department.

From Ken Livingstone to Ken Clarke I encountered lots of high profile politicians as I organised and managed multi-camera location shoots and down-the-line interviews for this live weekly broadcast transmitted on BBC1. The job involved Sourcing and managing locations for OB's, co-ordinating between different stakeholders and securing necessary filming consents, co-ordinating office and location teams and liaising between clients and contributors. On TX day I was live gallery PA. I also maintained postproduction paperwork and budgets including quarterly production reports.This role was a great opportunity to gain experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders, budgeting and team management. Due to the live nature of the show it also improved my problem solving abilities especially in a fast turnaround situation.

Senior Production Assistant working in the as- live gallery to produce content for Teletext Holidays dedicated travel channel. My work included setting up the recording paperwork for the forthcoming day, organising the general daily workflow and booking junior presenters. I assisted on the channel launch and acted as a direct support to the director.
