I entered Envar Composting on a Graduate Trainee scheme, which involved rotational training in different parts of the business, as outlined below:Commercial Department - September 2023 to March 2024:➤ Communication across stakeholder groups and maintaining strong working relationships. ➤ Designed and led innovative new projects focused on market diversification. ➤ Assisted with acquisitions, and the hand-over and acclimatisation periods. ➤ Replying to general queries from customers on all manner of subjects relevant to the company's activities. ➤ Gave site tours to external stakeholders, and confidently discussed the products Envar produces (soil improver/biomass) and the challenges that the industry faces with increased regulations and contamination. Compliance Department - March 2024 to September 2024:➤ Internal auditing to ISO and PAS100 standards. ➤ Travel to and inspection of sites to ensure waste industry and permit compliance. ➤ Preparation of various documentation, including permitting applications and ISO9001 & 14001. ➤ Duty of care on incoming and outgoing materials against permits and PAS100 standards. ➤ Collection of samples (compost, biomass, biofilter material, etc) for lab work. Interpretation and dissemination of the results. ➤ Running small-scale compostability trials for customers and the creation of a report following the trials. ➤ Independently ran weighbridges, ensuring safe traffic management and compliance to PPE and visitor standards.

I was elected as the first Sustainability Officer for UWE Formula Student. Here, I:➤Created the first Environmental Impact Assessment for the team to assess our current impacts and to highlight areas of immediate and future improvement. ➤Co-led the creation of the Costing materials for the competition, of which the team achieved one of their highest ever marks and resulted in us ranking 4th. The feedback was notably impressed with my inclusion of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.➤Worked with stakeholders to recycle spent parts, such as donating used tyres to the community garden on UWE's Frenchay campus to be used as planters. ➤Created a team Sustainability Strategy in line with UWE's Student's Union goals.➤Co-managed the social media accounts for the team, and assisted with the creation of promotional materials.➤Promoted the team on Open Days and at Fresher's Fairs.

In my time at Box-E, I greatly grew my experience of customer service and working within the fine-dining hospitality sector. In this role, I:➤Delivered exceptional customer service, and maintained this under pressured conditions.➤Upheld a high standard of presentation of both myself and my activities whilst working.➤Developed a strong knowledge of wine and wine-making processes, and gave confident recommendations from an extensive wine list based on customer needs. I also attended wine tasting events to further my knowledge of our products. ➤Worked with varied size parties, from tables of two to groups of 30. ➤Good working knowledge of local food and beverage producers, and was able to confidently discuss these when giving recommendations or just addressing general interest with customers.

During my time at the Kench Hill Centre, an environmental education and residential centre in the Kent countryside, I worked as both a catering assistant and within the teaching team, therefore gaining excellent communication and hospitality skills. Here, I:➤Led and assisted with activities both indoors and outdoors, such as raft building, insect and plant identification, and team building games.➤Encouraged getting outdoors, being active and living sustainably.➤Worked with a range of people from different backgrounds, including family groups from the UK and abroad, local and wider community schools, and people with severe disabilities. ➤Assisted and supervised animal handling sessions.➤Maintained very high hygiene standards within catering spaces.➤Worked in a time pressured, often busy environment to meet the scheduling needs of the business.
