The year-long final year capstone project for the Master of Engineering (biomedical) degree. Luke's role in this project is to design and develop an implant that preventing degeneration of optic nerves from glaucoma by reducing the intraocular pressure. Luke strives to overcome the flaws of the existing implants and provide a novel clinical solution to help ophthalmologists improving their patient's quality of life.

As a student intern at the Bionics Institute, I was assigned a project that was part of a long-term study aiming to establish a motion capture system with inertial measurement unit sensors for movement analysis of Parkinson's disease. My task focused on implementing an orientation filter algorithm that interprets data from the inertial measurement unit, which includes accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer data. I have developed a Python script for data acquisition with a Raspberry Pi and implemented the algorithm with MATLAB to represent the orientation and movement in 3D space.

My role in this internship is to assist MD. Jason Chuen and his 3DMedLab team to explore and utilise additive manufacturing (3D printing) technology in the clinical environment.• Successfully reduce the cost of a medical device by replicate with CAD and 3D printing.• Develop a solution to reduce laborious motion and improve the safety of using isolation gowns.
