As co-founder and CEO of a generative AI startup, I spearhead the many responsibilities involved in leading a young, dynamic company. My daily work encompasses overseeing product development, sales, and financing. A significant portion of my role involves directly managing our generative AI product—continuously testing and refining prompts to optimise performance. I closely monitor advancements in large language models to ensure our product capitalises on the latest techniques.Before this endeavor, I built over 30 years of extensive IT experience leading and managing large-scale projects for multinational corporations. I have delivered multi-million-pound solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align with business objectives. Earlier in my career as a developer, I gained firsthand experience working on these sizable IT teams. This provided invaluable insight into the inner workings of complex organisations.Although I found success in IT, in 2019, I took a break after being made redundant. I retrained as a teacher—a rewarding experience developing new skills in communication, leadership, and problem-solving. My IT background proved useful in the classroom as well. My work with the National Centre for Computing Education, interacting with teachers across schools and trusts, was especially fulfilling in helping ensure students receive the high-quality education they deserve. While I am no longer teaching, I now volunteer to assist students with computer science and data-related activities, helping them gain valuable real-world experience.
