During my internship at Krishna Mines Super White, I worked in the Production and Quality Control Department, focusing on analyzing limestone and dolomite samples. The primary project I undertook was the "Determination of Calcium and Magnesium Compounds using Standardized EDTA Solution."My work involved carrying out complexometric titration to determine the composition of Calcium Oxide (CaO), Magnesium Oxide (MgO), and Silica in the limestone samples. Using metallochromic indicators such as Eriochrome Black T and Calconcarboxylic acids, I successfully analyzed the samples to identify and quantify the presence of calcium, magnesium, and silica.In addition to determining the elemental composition, I measured key physical properties like the whiteness, brightness, and bulk density of the limestone. This involved utilizing advanced lab apparatus such as muffle furnaces, hot plate magnetic stirrers, and specialized sensors. The findings were used to ensure that the samples met industrial standards for further production processes.This internship provided valuable exposure to the quality control practices and analytical methods required for efficient production in the mining industry.

During my internship at Rajapalayam Mills Limited, I worked in the Dyeing Department on the project "Evaluation of Colours of Dyed Cotton Yarn Using Spectrophotometer." The project aimed to assess the colour properties of dyed yarn using spectrophotometric techniques, ensuring quality and consistency in the dyeing process.The spectrophotometer was a key tool used to measure the light absorption and reflection of dyed yarns, providing quantitative data on color properties such as hue, chroma, and lightness. The goal was to determine the deviation between the dyed yarn and the target standard, measured as Delta E (ΔE) values. These values indicated the differences in color, helping ensure that the dyed products met industry standards.My responsibilities included operating and calibrating the spectrophotometer, preparing yarn samples, and analyzing the results. Calibration involved using reference standards to ensure accuracy in measurements. I collected spectral data for various dyed yarn samples, analyzed their ΔE values, and compared them with the set standard. A low ΔE value signified a close match, which is crucial for quality assurance.The use of different light sources like halogen and xenon lamps allowed the evaluation of how the yarn colors would appear under varying lighting conditions. I also learned to work with the CIELAB color space, which quantified the colors in terms of lightness, red-green, and blue-yellow values. This method provided a clear, systematic approach to colour evaluation, ensuring that products matched the customer's requirements.Overall, this internship gave me practical experience in using advanced quality control methods in the textile industry. I gained valuable insights into color measurement and the importance of precision in dyeing processes to maintain product consistency. The experience reinforced the significance of technology in achieving high-quality outcomes and minimising deviations in textile production.

Project Title:- Replacement of Coal with Petcoke as an alternative Fuel in Pyro Processing in cement manufacturing process.The Main aim of the project is to minimize the use of fossil fuels and also to reduce the harmful environmental emissions by using petcoke instead of coal in rotary kiln for the process of clinkerisation.This process of cement manufacturing involves the extraction of limestone, crushing, stacking, reclaimation, processing in raw and coal mills, kiln operations (pyroprocessing), grinding of coal, cement grinding and packaging.The pyroprocessing of cement involves precalcination of raw mill material by precalciners upto 95% , five stage low pressure drop cyclones and in line rotary kiln preheated to around 1400 degree centigrade for the process of clinkerisation, the resulting clinker is 1200 degree centigrade which is further cooled to 100 degree centigrade by jet coolers and atmospheric air.Further the clinker is ground to fine material by roll press and ball mills and sent to packaging unit for the purpose of packing and dispatched to various places by trucks and other transportation means.
