I held ownership of all logistic contracts related to import of raw materials and export of finished goods for the company. My responsibilities included identification of vendors/service providers, drafting & negotiation of terms and execution of contracts. In addition, I also oversaw day-to-day port and inbound logistic operations including import/export documentation, vessel planning, railway liaising and raw material inventory management. Big Achievement: Ensured that the plant never ran out of iron ore when licence of captive mines were suspended by contracting and coordinating with 6 different ports to bring home over 3 million tons of imported ore over a period of 6 months.

I handled the marketing function of the Port which included customer identification, contract closure, customer service & branding activities. I negotiated & drafted all cargo handling contracts with customers. I also worked on many new business ventures such as coastal movement of thermal coal, trans-loading & barge operations, Inland Waterways (NW5), crude oil/LNG/LPG berths. I assisted with vessel operations, and guided the port operations team with contract performance parameters. I liaised with East Coast Railways, Customs & Excise and Directorate of Mines for regulatory compliance and was part of the core team at Dhamra Port during the acquisition of the Port by Adani Group.Big Achievement: Concluded, after almost 6 month of hard negotiations, a very difficult, 30-year long-term cargo handling contract with Tata Steel Limited.

I handled the marketing and customer service function for coal, fertilizer & project cargo contracts and spearheaded the branding/promotion activities of the port. I was responsible for preparing annual, quarterly and monthly business and revenue plans. I also worked on EOIs, pre-feasibility reports and financial models for a number of new port-based business initiatives such as Single Buoy Mooring (SBM) for crude oil, Logistics Hub, Industrial Park, desalination plants, fishing harbour and various tourism related projects. Big Achievement: Initiated and executed 'Karaikal Connect' - a customer interaction and recognition program which is now an annual feature at the company.

As senior watch-keeping engineer, I assumed independent charge of engine room and was responsible for operation and maintenance of engine room machinery such as boilers, diesel generators & heat exchangers. I managed inventory of engine stores, spares, chemicals, lubricating and fuel oils. The job allowed me to visit ports and terminals around the world and experience multicultural work environments. Big Achievement: Lead teams of multinational crew during complete overhaul (dry-dock) of 100,000 ton crude oil tanker M.T. Eagle Memphis at Jurong Shipyard, Singapore, June 2005.
