I had served in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) for the past 40 years. Throughout the past 40 years, I had served in various appointments such as instructional, management, catering and account holder. These appointments allow me to develop my leadership, man management skills, networking, coaching and understand organizational intent.During my tour as an instructor, I can develop lesson plans and conduct credible lesson. Through years of being an instructor, I can recognize the strength and weakness of my trainees. This encourages me to put in efforts to communicate with my trainees to improve on their performances.As a leader in the SAF, I have personnel under my charge, and it is my responsibilities to ensure that their development and welfare are well taken care off. In order to do so, I had to interact with personnel from human resource, training and operations department to plan out the workplan for my team. This allows me to develop my management skills and this was put to good use in the numerous oversea exercises which involved intense organizational planning.As an account holder, I understand the importance of resource planning and cost prudency. This leads to better allocation of resources, high level of equipment availability and positive feedback from user. During my stint as an account holder, I managed to achieve A banding for 2 consecutive years of Logistics Audit in an active combat unit.Throughout my career in the SAF, I had a keen interest in athletics and represent Singapore and SAFSA for many years and in the process clinching various awards. Apart from competing, I felt a responsibility to groom the next generation. Thus, I begin to take on management role such as team manager and coach. Teams that I coached included 6 Division, 9 Division and ICTC 1.
