Robotics Software And Controls Engineer
Course Developer
Course developer for the graduate level course- Autonomous Systems. Tasked with developing ros2 packages to illustrate advanced Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) techniques using LIDAR, OpenCV and odometry data for autonomous navigation on TurtleBot4.
Robotics Software Engineer
* Utilized MoveIt 2 and ROS 2 C++ nodes to automate motion of a 7 DOF serial robotic manipulator from any current pose to any valid pre-defined goal pose. Integrated and compared results from open-source libraries- OMPL, CHOMP, STOMP and Fast IK. Fastest solution from the lot gotten from RRT* (RRT star) averaging about 7s to converge. * Reduced average latency between our apps from 20ms to 5ms. Defined QoS policies for interoperability between the ROS 2 data-bus and RTI Connext DDS data-bus over our middleware. Improved synchronous data exchange latency through the rmw_connext_dds layer for SHMEM and UDPv4 transport methods between any publisher/subscriber. * Reduced the system build time by 37% by modularizing robotic system config files and implemented a custom CMake module in a C++ ROS 2 package. Leveraged the build system of ROS 2- colcon, to auto generate a shareable library of protobuf files ingestible by any other ROS 2 package. * Exposed C++ libraries of sensing algorithms in Python using pybind11 by creating Python bindings of the existing C++ code, following good ROS 2 packaging structure. Allowing Python developers to reuse the same C++ library but in Python.
Suspension And Steering Lead Engineer
* Responsible for designing suspension control arms of an All- Terrain Vehicle for SAE BAJA using Hypermesh for mesh correction, performed Von Mises stress analysis and strain analysis using ANSYS mechanical workbench for chromoly tubes. Successfully reduced the weight by 700g from the previous design without compromising on bending stiffness and rigidity.* Iteratively refined the static structural design of suspension knuckle and hub (T6 6061 Al) using Hypermesh and ANSYS for further optimization of the components, focusing on reducing stress concentrations and reducing weight, reduced weight by60g. Redesigned the kinematic suspension points using Lotus Shark for a double A- arm suspension with shaft as camber link in the rear suspension.* Experience with building test rigs for our components usingHC-SR04to measure dynamic shock travel, ADXL335 to measure cornering forces and body roll, strain gauges for stress measurement, NEO-6M to track acceleration, velocity and position of the car throughout a few more sensors.
