I helped clients understand the potential value of their patent assets based on several parameters including market size and potential, technology maturity and state of the industry, monopolizing potential of the patent assets (design around, and alternate implementations), and potential infringers. I assembled and managed a fully integrated team for IP analytics (hi-tech domain). I lead the team to being one of the most prolific units within the IP services vertical, delivering some of the most sophisticated projects in the organization.I designed automation solutions and accompanying workflows to integrate the customers’ existing information, and other proprietary and publicly available bulk data sources into their Derwent Innovation subscriptions.I managed project deliveries; providing insights into the state of innovation using IP analytics, and advising our customers on next steps. As Assistant Manager, I managed patent preparation and prosecution assignments. I worked with inventors and attorneys to identify the best possible strategy to protecting their innovation, and delivering patent applications with the right balance of breadth of coverage, and survivability/fallback positions. I trained the team on patent prosecution – particularly the tactics of arguing more persuasively during, and tailoring responses based on the examiner’s approach in claim rejections.
